Marstons Mills Methodist Church

The former Marstons Mills Methodist Church on Main Street is a small, simple gable-roofed building that was built sometime before 1830 and moved by oxen from Yarmouth to Marstons Mills in 1830, onto land given by Allan Marston and Ebenezer Scudder. Originally Greek Revival in character, it gained Queen Anne features through later remodelings, including a decorative shingled belfry rising from a pedimented entry porch (added around 1888-1908) and a rear ell; a larger side ell, Memorial Hall, was added in 1959. It is significant for the central role it has played in the life of Marstons Mills village and as a good local example of 19th-century ecclesiastical architecture.
