The Story
The William Marston House is a fine example of Georgian style architecture in the Marstons Mills village of Barnstable, a two-and-a-half story wood-frame house with a symmetrical five-bay facade, central chimney, and pilastered entry, splendidly sited on a rise overlooking Mill Pond. It was built about 1780 by Benjamin Marston, a third-generation descendant of the Benjamin Marston who came from Salem in 1738 and ran the mill that gave the village its name. The house passed to his son William and remained in the family until 1895.
