Hinckley Homestead

The Hinckley Homestead at 1740 South County Road in Marstons Mills (Barnstable) is an early Cape cottage of about 1750, notable for the high quality of its intact Georgian architecture, including a full five-bay facade, a gable roof with end chimneys, and an elegant swelled-console entry treatment found on only three period houses in town. The property has been in the Hinckley family since Samuel Hinckley arrived from Kent, England, in 1639 and received a land grant, passing through successive generations of the family into the 20th century. It is significant both for this continuous family association and for its role in the development of Marstons Mills.
