Liberty Hall (Barnstable)

Liberty Hall on Main Street in Marstons Mills, Barnstable, is a simple 1.5-story Greek Revival village hall built in 1859 and owned by a stock company of village residents, following a typical Barnstable pattern. Trimmed with corner pilasters and an entablature, it has large 12/12 windows and an entry in a one-story enclosed porch angled off one corner. It served as the community's principal gathering place, hosting the Dramatic Club of Marstons Mills in the 1890s, and later became a Methodist parish house. As a longtime center of village life and a representative mid-19th-century institutional building, it meets Criteria A and C.
