The Story
The Lincoln House Club in Osterville (Barnstable) is a Shingle Style building erected in 1899 by the Lincoln Club of Boston, a fresh-air association whose members enjoyed two-week summer seaside stays. The 2.5-story house is entirely sheathed in shingles and gathered under one broad gabled roof extending on carved brackets, with large dormers and a porch facing the sea, and served as the association's center and lodging house. The association was dissolved in 1922 and the property sold and converted to a private dwelling. It is significant for its early association with the fresh-air movement and as a fine, unaltered example of the Shingle Style.
