History

Hillside Cemetery on Old Mill Road in Barnstable was established in 1750 and served the surrounding Cape Cod farming community through the colonial and early national periods. Its older markers reflect the death's-head and urn-and-willow gravestone traditions of 18th- and early 19th-century New England. The cemetery is a contributing property in a National Register historic district.
