History

The Springfield Soldiers Monument in Court Square was dedicated in 1885 to honor the city's soldiers of the Civil War. Its bronze work is attributed to Melzar Hunt Mosman, a sculptor and founder associated with the Chicopee bronze foundries. It is a contributing property in a National Register historic district.
