History

Old North Cemetery, laid out in 1713 on the wind-swept Hill of Storms beside Truro's first meetinghouse, is the oldest burial ground in Truro, established just four years after the town was incorporated. It remained the town's only cemetery until Pine Grove was opened in 1799, and among those interred are early proprietors, town officials, clergy, and the sea captains who defined Truro's maritime life. The cemetery was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
