History
This modernist Cape Cod retreat on Black Pond Road in Wellfleet was designed and built in 1949 by architect Marcel Breuer, the third of four houses he built for his family, and enlarged with a separate studio in 1962. Set on a wooded 4.2-acre inholding within the Cape Cod National Seashore, the single-story house uses Breuer's characteristic 'long house' form, with largely windowless north and west walls and expansive glazing facing the ponds. Threatened with demolition, it was acquired by the Cape Cod Modern House Trust in 2024, restored, and listed on the National Register that year.
