Polish National Home

The Polish National Home (Dom Narodowy Polski) at 136-144 Cabot Street in Chicopee is a five-story masonry building with steel framing, built in 1912-14 in the Georgian Colonial Revival style, with a brick athletic annex added in 1922. The building housed a meeting hall, reading rooms, a library, bowling alleys and small apartments. It served as the focus of social and cultural life for Chicopee's large Polish immigrant community and was a public symbol of the Poles' successful acculturation and economic advancement. It is significant for its association with immigration and community life and for its well-preserved design.
