This marker in Snow Cemetery commemorates the marine painter Frederick Judd Waugh (1861-1940), one of the most popular American painters of ocean and surf scenes in the early 20th century. Waugh spent his later years on Cape Cod and died in Provincetown in 1940, the year recorded for this stone. His seascapes hang in major American museums.
