The Story
The Forestdale School, also known as the Greenville School or "Little Red School House," is a one-room, wood-frame Greek Revival schoolhouse built in 1878 in the village of Forestdale (formerly Greenville) in Sandwich; the construction contract was awarded to South Sandwich carpenter Charles W. H. Meiggs. It has a symmetrical gable-front facade with two entries and transoms, molded window caps, cornice returns, and a broad frieze. Used as a district school until 1927 and afterward as a community meeting place, it is the last intact survivor of Sandwich's original group of district schools and one of the last examples of a district school on Cape Cod.

The Forestdale School, also known as the Greenville School, is a one-room district schoolhouse at 87 Falmouth-Sandwich Road in Sandwich. Built in 1878 with Greek Revival features, it served the agricultural Forestdale area (known as Greenville before 1887) and is the least-altered of 21 district schools the town built in the 19th century. It operated as a school until 1927 and later served as a men's club, branch library, and Boy Scout meeting space. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
