History

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster was founded in 1954, growing out of a proposal for a 'Cape Cod Junior Museum' made at a meeting that February. The nature writer and conservationist John Hay was among its founders and served as its president from 1955 to 1980. The museum occupies an 80-acre site along Route 6A and is devoted to educating the public about the region's plant, animal, and marine life, with trails threading the surrounding Stony Brook valley.
