History

Brewster First Parish Cemetery was established in 1707 on Breakwater Road and is one of the oldest burial grounds in Brewster, laid out for the town's First Parish congregation on land then part of Harwich. Its earliest slate markers, carved with the winged death's-heads and soul effigies typical of colonial Cape Cod, record generations of the early parish families. The cemetery survives as a contributing property in a National Register historic district.
