About this walk

The state's designated public liberal arts college, MCLA has no walled quad, its buildings blend straight into downtown North Adams, a former mill city reborn around MASS MoCA and the arts.

Every campus tells one story to visitors and another to itself. This walk covers both. Four stops over 2.3 miles, about an hour of walking. The story for each stop plays as you arrive, so nothing has to be looked up and nobody has to be followed.

North Adams has two MassRoam tours and no two cover the same ground. It works as well at eight in the morning as it does at dusk. Stop for coffee, pick it back up.
