About this walk

The oldest public college in Massachusetts, founded by Horace Mann in 1840 as the first purpose-built teacher-training school in the hemisphere.

A campus is an argument in brick about what education is for. Bridgewater has a long-running one. Five stops over 1.1 miles, about an hour of walking. The story for each stop plays as you arrive, so nothing has to be looked up and nobody has to be followed.

It works as well at eight in the morning as it does at dusk. Stop for coffee, pick it back up.
