Nicky's Pizza House

This Connecticut River valley village began in the 18th century as a secondary farming settlement for second-generation Springfield residents, growing up along an existing thoroughfare where a series of inns catered to travelers and their trade. Its 18th- and 19th-century economy centered on mixed agriculture, with dairy farming especially successful, before improved trolley and automobile transportation transformed the farming village into an early-20th-century streetcar suburb. It is architecturally notable for a fine collection of Federal-style buildings alongside representative examples from Greek Revival through the bungalows of the early 1900s.
