The northern half of this brick, stone and concrete school went up in 1915 to seat the children of Westfield's fast-growing immigrant population, to a design by George Haynes of Pittsfield; demand kept climbing and Malcolm B. Harding doubled the building in 1922. The two campaigns read across a nineteen-bay front, its windows grouped in fours within quoined bays. It taught elementary grades for most of a century, closed briefly in 1991 for low enrollment, and shut for good in 2009 with its original floor plan largely intact.
