History
The Spanish-American War Memorial in Memorial Square, Springfield, was dedicated in 1906 to honor local men who served in the war of 1898. Its bronze figure is the work of Melzar Hunt Mosman, the Springfield sculptor and bell founder, and it is a contributing feature of a National Register historic district.
