Longmeadow's Old Burying Ground was established by the Longmeadow Parish in 1718 and served the community for over 150 years. As it neared capacity, residents formed the Longmeadow Cemetery Association in 1872 to lay out the adjoining Longmeadow Cemetery within the same enclosure; together the grounds hold hundreds of military veterans spanning the colonial era to the present.

The Old Burying Ground on Williams Street is the original burial ground of Longmeadow, in use from about 1716 near the town's historic green and First Church. It is a contributing property in a National Register historic district encompassing the Longmeadow green, and its colonial and early-Federal stones mark generations of the families who settled this Connecticut River valley community; the original ground is owned by First Church and lies within the town's Green historic district.
