The Story
The Ivernia Apartment Building at 91-93 Pine Street stands in Springfield's Six Corners neighborhood, across from the Springfield Cemetery. Constructed in 1910 in the Classical Revival style, it is a four-story building set on a raised basement with a finished red-brick facade. It was designed by the firm of Gagnier & Angers and built as an investment property for carpenter Joseph Gaudette. The building is significant under Criterion A for its association with the French-Canadian construction industry and Springfield's early-20th-century apartment-building boom, and under Criterion C as a well-preserved Classical Revival apartment building.
