Holcomb, Dr. Vincent House

A contributing property in the West Granville Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. A pre-industrial rural village whose largely agricultural economy nonetheless supported a school, tavern, tannery, and doctor in the Colonial period, and which was home to Hampden County's first sheriff. Despite population losses when Tolland separated from Granville in 1810 and during the Ohio migration of the 1830s, the village retained a nearly intact collection of 18th- and 19th-century buildings. Its vernacular Georgian, Federal, and Greek Revival architecture and preserved streetscape make it a notable example of a secondary New England rural village.
