Known today as the Mechanic Street Cemetery, this is Westfield's oldest burial ground, formally established by 1677 soon after the town's 1669 settlement, with its earliest documented grave dating to 1683. It holds many of Westfield's earliest settlers and remained in use until about 1875, after the rural-style Pine Hill Cemetery opened in 1842. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
