The Story
The Adams Apartment Building at 71 Adams Street in Springfield's South End is a four-story, red-brick Classical Revival residential building constructed in 1912 and designed by the firm Gagnier & Angers. It is significant under National Register Criterion A for its association with the French-Canadian construction industry in Springfield and under Criterion C as a well-preserved example of a modest Classical Revival apartment block. The building was the only masonry apartment building on its stretch of Adams Street.
