History

Second of the schoolhouses to stand on this School Street lot, the building went up as a two-room village school and was enlarged to four classrooms in 1885 by architect Samuel D. Kelley, with Mead, Mason & Company of Concord, New Hampshire as contractor. A two-stage cupola and belfry crown the gable roof, and a gabled projecting bay fronts the street. Long after regular classes ended it found new tenants: the Children's School of Science uses it each summer, and a daycare cooperative occupies it in winter.
