History

Universalist Cemetery, on Main Street in Barnstable, was established about 1826 in connection with the Universalist congregation that took root in the village during the early nineteenth century. Its stones lie within a local historic district along Barnstable's historic Main Street. The burying ground reflects the growth of liberal Protestant denominations on Cape Cod in that era.
