History

The Old South Dennis Cemetery on Main Street is among the earliest burying grounds in Dennis, with roots reaching back to about 1700 when the area was still part of the town of Yarmouth. Part of a local historic district, it holds the graves of the sea captains, mariners, and farming families of South Dennis, and its oldest stones carry the winged death's-heads and cherubs typical of colonial Cape Cod carving.
