A contributing property in the Centerville Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Concentrated along a linear spine leading toward the harbor, this Cape Cod village center grew rapidly in the mid-19th century as prosperity from sea trade and fishing spread through Barnstable's southern villages. Greek Revival and Italianate styles predominate across a mix of houses, shops, churches, schools, and civic buildings, many of them the homes of ship captains and local businessmen. Clad in clapboards and arranged in a notably urbane setting, the district survives remarkably intact and still functions as a civic, commercial, and social center.
