History

St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church stands on South Street in Hyannis and is widely known as the 'Kennedy church.' After buying their home in nearby Hyannis Port in the 1920s, Rose and Joseph Kennedy made it their summer parish, and it became associated with numerous Kennedy family milestones. President John F. Kennedy attended Mass there, and family baptisms, weddings, and funerals have been held at the church over the decades.
