Nickerson, Seth House

A contributing property in the Hyannis Port Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Originally a small fishing and farming village settled around 1780, this Cape Cod neighborhood was transformed after 1871 into a planned seaside summer resort laid out by the Hyannis Land Company. Densely built with wood-frame houses on small lots along an irregular, curving street grid, it developed chiefly between the 1870s and the early 1930s and commands sweeping views of Hyannis Harbor and Nantucket Sound. Its most celebrated association is with the Kennedy family, whose houses on Marchant Avenue form the National Historic Landmark Kennedy Compound within the district.
