History

Mount Hope Cemetery stands on Route 6A in Sandwich, one of the oldest towns on Cape Cod, and dates to about 1775. Part of a local historic district along the historic 6A corridor, it preserves gravestones spanning the Revolutionary era through the 19th century in a town whose early economy rested on farming, shipping, and later the celebrated Boston & Sandwich glassworks.
