This historic Hitching Post stands at 7 Summer Street in Yarmouth and is recorded as dating to about 1800. Hitching posts were once common street fixtures where horses were tied while riders and drivers went about their business, and surviving examples are now preserved as artifacts of the horse-and-carriage era. It is a contributing property in a National Register historic district.
