History

The Hall Family Cemetery on Corporation Road in Dennis is one of Cape Cod's early private family burying grounds, with graves dating back to 1696. Small kin-based graveyards like this were the norm on the Cape before town cemeteries were laid out, and this one preserves the Hall family's plot within a local historic district. Its oldest stones date from the colonial period, when winged death's-heads and simple slate markers were the New England fashion.
