The Barnstable County Courthouse at 3195 Main Street, which houses the district and superior courts, is a two-story Greek Revival building erected in 1831 to a design by architect Alexander Parris. It is built mostly of Quincy granite, though its front portico and fluted Doric columns are wood fashioned to look like stone; it was expanded five times between 1879 and 1971 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

Its centerpiece Greek Revival courthouse was built in 1831 to a design by architect Alexander Parris, using Quincy granite with a wood portico and Doric columns fashioned to imitate stone. The building replaced an earlier 1763 colonial courthouse and has been enlarged several times since, remaining the county's judicial center and part of the Old King's Highway Historic District.
