History

This marker in Dennis Village Cemetery honors the Rev. Josiah Dennis (1719-1795), longtime Congregational minister of the East Precinct of Yarmouth, for whom the town of Dennis was named when it was incorporated in 1793. His 18th-century parsonage survives in the village as the Josiah Dennis Manse museum. The marker records his resting place in the old burying ground.
