Crocker, Benomi - Barnabas House

The Benomi and Barnabas Crocker House at 325 Willow Street in West Barnstable is a Federal-period Cape cottage dated to 1790. A full five-bay, one-and-a-half-story house with a large central chimney and shingle cladding, it originated as a three-bay half Cape and was extended to a full Cape in 1843; beams and stones from a nearby stone fort are reported to have been used in its original construction. It is significant for its long association (until 1926) with the well-known Crocker family, for its ties to West Barnstable's agricultural history, and as a fine, well-preserved example of a Federal-period Cape (Criteria A, B, and C).
