Bournedale Village School

The Bournedale Village School at 29 Herring Pond Road in the Bournedale village of Bourne is a Late Victorian/Victorian Eclectic one-room primary schoolhouse built in 1897, set back on a small grassy hilltop. It is significant under National Register Criterion C as an example of the one-room primary schools built in substantial numbers throughout the area during the 19th century, and under Criterion A in the area of social history for its long use as a community meeting space. After it closed as a school, the building was maintained as a community meeting hall by the Bournedale Civic Association.
