The Story
The Adams-Crocker-Fish House at 449 Willow Street in West Barnstable is a vernacular Greek Revival half-cape cottage built circa 1830. Rising a story and a half and clad in clapboards and shingles, it has a chimney through the peak at the south gable end, a shallow-pitched roof with a dormer, small-pane 12/12 windows, and a low stone foundation, with a wing and ell extending the house. It is significant as a rare surviving example of a small vernacular farmstead, its half-cape house accompanied by numerous close-set outbuildings; the property passed through the Adams, Crocker, and Fish families over the 19th century, and it meets National Register Criterion C as part of the Barnstable Multiple Resource Area.
